Double Layer Doggie Cake
It's my boyfriend's goldendoodle's birthday today! Rudy turns 2 and I decided to get a bit creative in the kitchen. This double layer cake is healthy, dog friendly, AND human friendly (although not as tasty for humans as dogs)! But, don't eat the milk bones;)
4 ripe bananas, mashed
2 tbsp honey
2 cups water
3 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 tbsp baking powder
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup peanut butter
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Coat two round cake pans with non stick spray
In a bowl, mix the bananas, 2 tablespoons honey, egg and water together until combined
Stir in the flour, baking powder and oats
Pour the batter into the prepared pan
Bake the cake for 45 mins. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 30 minutes before transferring to a rack to cool completely.
Use peanut butter to layer the two pieces of cake and ice the top with peanut butter
Use peanut butter to glue milk bones around the edges!
